ABOUT THIS powerful PRAYER
The Great Invocation is a world prayer translated into over 80 languages and dialects. It was given to Alice Bailey through Master Djwhal Khul in April 1945 as an instrument to help the Divine Plan be fulfilled on earth.
Regular practice of this prayer is also believed to be a great act of service to humanity.
Its beauty and strength lie in its simplicity and in its expression of certain central truths:
The truth of the existence of a basic Intelligence to Whom we vaguely give the name of God;
The truth that behind all outer seeming, the motivating power of the universe is Love;
The truth that a great Individuality, called by Christians the Christ, came to earth and embodied that love so that we could understand;
The truth that both love and intelligence are effects of what is called the Will of God;
And finally, the self-evident truth that only through humanity itself can the divine plan work out.
The philosophy is that through invocation and meditation, divine energies can be released and brought into activity to spiritualize and strengthen the troubled world. This means that people, if united and focused, have the power to affect world events and the Great Invocation, in this case, is a simple yet powerful invocation which, if scientifically applied, can be one of the great liberating forces within humanity.
